----------------------------------------------------------------
MINIMUM and RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
POWERdisc requires Windows 3.1 or higher, a minimum of
8 MB RAM, and VGA graphics with at least 256 colors and
"Small Fonts" selected. Higher color settings are recommended
to avoid palette problems (color flashes) when switching
between screens or videos. A 486 with a double-speed
or faster CD-ROM drive is recommended for smooth-running
videos and speed considerations. A sound card and speakers
are required to hear the audio portions of POWERdisc.
----------------------------------------------------------------
RUNNING FROM A NETWORK
This version of POWERdisc includes the ability to run from
a CD-ROM drive attached to the network server. Note that
POWERdisc must be installed to local hard drive(s).
Alternately, the entire CD-ROM may be copied to a network
hard drive and installed from that drive. NOTE: This will
require approximately 500MB on the network hard drive.
----------------------------------------------------------------
INSTALLATION PROBLEMS
Memory-resident programs such as anti-virus programs or
memory managers may cause problems during installation.
If you are having trouble installing POWERdisc, disable
all memory-resident programs and memory managers, and try
again. Once POWERdisc has been installed successfully,
the memory-resident programs and memory managers can be
re-enabled.
----------------------------------------------------------------
MICROSOFT VIDEO FOR WINDOWS INSTALLATION
POWERdisc requires the presence of MicroSoft Video for Windows
to operate correctly. During installation, you will be offered
the option to install the runtime version of Video for Windows,
version 1.1d. If you have an older version of Video for Windows,
we strongly suggest that you install this newer one. Choosing
this option will install Video for Windows to your system.
If you encounter problems during the Video for Windows
installation, use Windows Setup to set your system to Standard
Windows VGA mode, then run the install program again. Once the
installation is successful, you may return your system to
your typical graphics mode.
The introduction and final videos on POWERdisc can be
bypassed by double-clicking on the POWERdisc screen while
the videos are playing.

PROBLEMS WHILE USING THE PRICE GUIDE OR PRODUCT
INFORMATION VIEWER
(see also the Price Guide read me file, V24.TXT)
If you do not know your PIN number, please contact your
principal or call your MicroAge Customer Service Representative.
If you change your PIN number before you receive the next
POWERdisc, delete the PGUIDE.MEM file from your C:\
directory. This will allow the program to prompt you
to enter the new PIN when you enter the price guide.
Using "Large Fonts" in your video driver setup may cause
improper formatting of text in these sections of POWERdisc.
If you encounter this problem, use Windows Setup or your
video card setup software and choose "Small Fonts."
If you get an "Unable to Open File" or other error while
using the price guide, check your CONFIG.SYS file to be
sure it contains the following line:
Files = 60
If the "Files" statement is set to a number lower than 60,
increase it to 60 or more. If you continue to get the
error, check your system for a SHELL.CFG file and be sure it
contains the following line:
FileHandles = 60
If the "FileHandles" statement is set to a number lower than
60, increase it to 60 or more.
If the error is still present after making these changes,
increase your Windows swap file size to at least 20 MB.
